Brooklyn Reading Works & The Culture Project + 'post election' events until the end of November

Baby Love
A Play by Michael Winks
Brooklyn Reading Works
NOVEMBER 20, 2008:NEW PLAY ASKS ?
CAN WE TRADE IN OUR KID FOR A NEW ONE?

Brooklyn Reading Works presents Michael Winks' absurdist comedy "Baby Love," which takes an acerbic look at two self-absorbed parents who can't be bothered to tend to a cranky baby. They trade him for a "grownup" baby who progresses in his development at such a speed, they hope to have him off to college in a matter of months! But to quote Radiohead, the "Karma Police" will have their way with this couple. Oh, Baby!

Come to this play reading, featuring Linda Larson. This play will provoke laughter and sadness as the course of true love between a parent and child never was supposed to run smooth.

Ronan Noone, a former journalist born and raised in Ireland, has quickly become one of the most exciting new voices in American theater. Named Best Young Playwright by Boston Magazine, his writing encompasses broad, bold themes, including race relations, overcoming abuse and coming of age far from home. Campbell Scott, acclaimed actor and star of Noone's The Atheist, joins Ronan in conversation about the play and Ronan's remarkable body of work.

Praise for Ronan Noone and The Atheist

"An EXPOSE of our diseased, contemporary culture! Scott imbues the writing with SAVAGE WIT!" - New York Times

"Scott has enough HYPNOTIC CHARISMA for about five actors, keeping the audience enthralled." - Variety
