Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride:

Stages presents
“The Wind in the Willows”
Take a wild ride with Mr. Toad and his friends along the River Bank, when Stages,
A Children’s Theatre Workshop, Inc., presents “The Wind in the Willows” at the Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor on Friday, April 27th at 7:30 PM, Saturday, April 28th at 2:00 PM and Sunday, April 29th at 2:00 PM.

The Wind in the Willows,” based on the English children’s classic by Kenneth Grahame, follows the hilarious story of the irrepressible Mr. Toad and his delightful friends, McBadger, Rat and Mole, who attempt, unsuccessfully of course, to discourage Toad’s motor car driving mania. A madcap adventure ensues.

Stages’ full-length musical production, directed by Helene Leonard, is an original version of the script, written for television by Ms. Leonard’s late father, Jerry Leonard. The music and lyrics were written by Jerry Leonard and John Petrone with additional music by Larry Loeber.

The Wind in the Willows” is performed by forty-four local young actors ages eight to seventeen. Amanda Jones on piano and James Benard on percussion and bass provide the musical accompaniment.

Tickets are $12 for children and $15 for adults. For reservations call the Bay Street Theatre at (631) 725-9500. For more information or to receive a flyer for
Stages’ popular Summer Stock program call Stages at (631) 329-1420.

SARAH POLLEY IN PERSON WITH
DIRECTORIAL DEBUT,
LIONSGATE’S ‘AWAY FROM HER,’
STARRING JULIE CHRISTIE

Friday, April 27, 2007, 7:30 p.m. preceded by a free screening of Julie Christie classic Darling, and followed by reception

Sarah Polley, best known for her starring performances in The Sweet Hereafter, Go, and Dawn of the Dead, will appear at the Museum of the Moving Image on Friday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m., with a special preview screening of her acclaimed directorial debut, Away from Her, starring Julie Christie. The screening will be followed by a Pinewood Dialogue with Polley, and a reception in the Museum galleries. At 5:00 p.m. on the same day, the Museum will present a free screening of the influential 1965 film Darling, directed by John Schlesinger and starring Christie in an Academy Award-winning performance as a model fighting her way to the top. Lionsgate will release Away from Her in theaters on May 4, 2007.

Away from Her, which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, and was featured at the Sundance and Berlin film festivals, is about a long-married couple coming to grips with the onset of memory loss. The film is a lyrical adaptation of Alice Munro’s story The Bear Came Over the Mountain. Tickets for Away from Her are $18 public/$12 Museum members. Visit www.movingimage.us to purchase online or call 718.784.4520.

Away from Her marks the feature directorial debut of Sarah Polley, the 27-year-old Canadian actress who came to international attention with her role in Atom Egoyan’s The Sweet Hereafter. Her short films as director include The Best Days of My Life, Don’t Think Twice, and I Shout Love, which won a Genie Award (Canada’s equivalent of the Oscars). From its conception, Polley adapted Away from Her with Julie Christie in the role of a woman with Alzheimer’s disease whose 50-year marriage succumbs to the pressures of the illness. Christie’s subtle, compelling performance ranks with her best work. Salon writes: “As pale and lovely as a Canadian winter sunrise…Polley’s adaptation…is loaded with icy switchbacks and spiky surprises.” For more information on the film please visit www.lionsgate.com/awayfromher/
