SILAS MARDER GALLERY is pleased to announce Jason Middlebrook: Every Tree is a Map, a solo exhibition of recent painting and sculpture, opening August 16 and on view through September 14, 2014. A reception for the artist will be held on Saturday, August 16, from 5-8pm.
Every Tree is a Map consists of the artist’s recent “plank” paintings. Hand-selected, rough-hewn slices of various hardwoods are adorned with brightly hued patterns that mimic the trees’ natural growth rings in a language and materials that are manufactured by contemporary culture.
